Information for the End Consumer

As an end consumer, you can not simply buy nora® products in a shop. nora® products are materials for skilled crafts and are turned into high-quality end products through the expert work of orthopaedic shoemakers, orthopaedic engineers, and shoemakers. That can mean repaired shoes or custom-made street shoes, foot beddings for diabetics, inserts for athletes, corrective inserts for feet, components of a prosthesis or orthosis, or parts of an individually fitted orthopaedic shoe, and much more.

There is one exception: you can buy nora® shoe spikes directly in a shoe store, medical supply store, or from a shoemaker.

The quality seal from the FRESENIUS INSTITUTE is very familiar to consumers. It stands for regular quality monitoring and careful, neutral, and independent inspections by one of the most respected testing institutes in Germany. For nora® products, it is above all skin tolerability that is relevant, because you as consumer should be sure that the products used can not cause any skin irritations or allergies; and certainly that the products do not contain any hazardous materials. Relevant nora® products therefore bear the quality seal “Certified Quality – Skin-Tolerable” and thus stand for absolute safety.

And why is it so important anyway that inserts and foot beddings be made of nora® EVA materials? The answer is complex and yet relatively simple. Only high-quality materials from a monitored and certified production facility offer the security of being free of hazardous or carcinogenic materials. Above all in direct contact with the skin, this should be an important criterion in the selection of the material. Many products made of our materials are subject to the German Medical Products Law (MPG), which means that this safety is also prescribed by law. For us as manufacturer that goes without saying.

In addition, nora® EVA materials have a closed cell structure. That means that bacteria and germs can not penetrate the material and multiply there. Instead, they adhere to the surface and can be washed away with the disinfectants available in stores. In addition to the skin tolerability certified by the Fresenius Institute, this property is also certified in the form of “proven disinfectability.”

Ice, snow, or slush – such street conditions always make walking difficult; often dangerous. Useful help is provided by the shoe spikes SPIKY and SPIKY PLUS. These products are rubber soles with steel spikes in the area of the soles and heels, which are pulled on over the shoes, providing protection against slips and thus helping to prevent accidents. That is why more and more companies and governmental agencies are equipping their personnel with these items. In private usage, too, they are becoming increasingly important.
